Prospective Students

Graduate Students

Thank you very much for your interest joining our team!  We are seeking for bright and motivated individuals who 1) academically distinguish themselves at top institutions, 2) are passionate for solving environmental challenges using technological approaches, and 3) are independent and creative thinkers as well as great team players.  Strong backgrounds in chemical, mechanical, material science, and/or environmental engineering are essential for successful applicants.  Especially, PhD applicants who have published in well-respected peer-reviewed journals will be given more favorable consideration.

If you meet the above qualifications, you are invited to email a preliminary application with “GRAD2024 – YOUR NAME” in the subject line to jongho.lee@civil.ubc.ca. The preliminary application should include the following in a single pdf file.

1. A one-page (maximum) Statement outlining:

• your relevant qualifications (e.g., papers, notable experiences)

• why you are interested in our team’s research.

2. A brief CV (3 pages maximum) including contact information of two references.

After reviewing the preliminary applications, potential candidates will be contacted and encouraged to formally apply by Jan 31, 2024 (deadline for admission in September 2024).  The final decision on the admissions will be made only after the full formal application is reviewed.  If you have (or are eligible for) an external fellowship (e.g., an NSERC Fellowship), please make that clear in your Statement. More information about funding is available here: https://www.civil.ubc.ca/academic-programs/graduate-program/funding.

You are invited to email with “UNDERGRAD2024 – YOUR NAME” in the subject line to jongho.lee@civil.ubc.ca, briefly introducing yourself, what research of our group you are interested and why, as well as a transcript.

Thanks for your interest.
